Milly & Tom - Wildflower Wonderland, A Wanaka Wedding
March in Wanaka boasts still days, blue skies and warmth like no other. The view from Rippon provides a breathtaking outlook over Lake Wanaka, of surrounding mountain ranges, and historical peaks with Ruby Island front row and centre.
The brief from Milly for her flowers was one of refined beauty, simplistic stems and whimsical wildflowers. We created a dancing flower aisle and love nest from locally grown blooms and soft, delicate flowers. It was the most perfectly still day with a light breeze to help our little flowers dance gracefully and frame the aisle as Milly walked towards her love, Tom.
Milly says Wanaka holds a special place in her heart; ‘We got married in Wanaka because I have been coming here since I was born. My whole family are from the South Island and my grandparents, on both sides of my family, have always had homes here. It's been our special holiday place where I've grown up with my siblings and cousins and I always knew I wanted to get married here. Rippon was so special because you look out over the incredible lake and mountains but also Bremner Bay and Beacon Point where we've spent so much time over the years. Tom loves Wanaka - it's unlike anywhere he's ever been before.’
Milly’s gorgeous dress was ‘made by Anya who owns a bridal boutique, L'eto Bridal, in Newport, Sydney. She made my dream gown after a few discussions about what I envisioned myself in. I really wanted my dress and wedding to be elegant, understated and beautiful. I love what she made for me.’
Milly's flowers were a dream to make. ‘I loved my bouquets - they were so pretty and delicate and you nailed the brief! The single stems flanking the aisle and the mix of flowers where we stood during the ceremony was beyond beautiful. Reusing them the next day at my Mum's house, where we had a relaxed BBQ, was such a lovely idea.’
‘We couldn't have had better weather and Wanaka helicopters took us up to Coromandel peak which was just incredible. There was barely any wind and it was nice to have some one on one time right after the ceremony.’
Our caterers Artisan were a big crowd pleaser. Everyone commented on how delicious it was and we loved what they put together for us.
One Fine Day put together the most incredible day and it was a privilege to work alongside theme to make all the magic happen for our special couple.
